Associate Potter / Workshop Hire

 

Being an ‘Associate Potter’ in the Star Pottery with professional Potter Mohamed Hamid.

Prerequisite

An Associate will be able to work mostly independently. Mohamed will be available to offer minimal assistance and a small amount of advice, but the associate position is not taught, and they must already be a competent potter.

 

Arrangements:

• The associate would sign up for the full term and pay a head of time. There is no refund if the associate is unable to attend a session (but there may be an opportunity to catch up on a Friday afternoon).

• If you decide you do not wish to carry on in the associate position for the following term, please inform us within 4 weeks of the end of the current term.

• The associate will have use of the pottery; Mohamed will prepare and supply the clay, glazes, and firings. There will be a charge of £4 per pound of fired clay to be paid on collection of your finished pieces.

• The pottery has two levels with most of the activities happening in the lower level. There are three wooden steps between the levels. The associate will be working on the wheel in the upper level or on the bench for hand building purposes..

 

Session times:

• 2 or 3 hour session.

• Morning session; 10.30am-12.30pm/ 1.30pm

• Afternoon session; 3pm -5pm/ 6pm

• Evening session; 7.30pm -9.30pm or 7pm-10pm).

 

Cost:

• £10.50 per hour paid in advance at the beginning of term.
